Act III. 
Scene 1. 
Wir sind wieder im Hause des Gormaz. Es ist vorauszu 
setzen, daß auch der König von dem Streite zwischen Gormaz 
und Alvarez gehört hat. Abermals will er als Mittler auftreten und 
hat darum Garcia zu Gormaz gesandt. — Die Scene zeigt die 
beiden in eifriger Unterhaltung. Garcia übermittelt den Wunsch 
des Königs, wonach Gormaz den Beleidigten um Verzeihung 
bitten soll, um so eine friedliche Lösung des Ehrenhandels herbei 
zuführen. Trotz aller Vorstellungen Garcias verharrt aber Gormaz 
bei seiner trotzigen Erwiderung, jegliche Genugtuung zu ver 
weigern. Unverrichteter Sache kehrt Garcia zum Könige zurück, 
um ihm Bericht zu erstatten. 
Diese Scene ist eine getreue Wiedergabe von Akt 11,1 der 
Vorlage und erübrigt weitere Bemerkungen.
