jhesus: Dedly syknes Lazarus liath non, 
But for to shewe Goddys grete glorye;

In them to walke bothe eiere and bryght;

But if men walke whan it is nyght, 
Sone they oftende in that dyrknes, 
Beeawse they may have no cler syght, 
They hurte there ft'ete ofte in suche myrkenes.

The cawse therefore I thedyr wyl wende, 
Is ffor to reyse, fl'rom bedde expresse, 
Lazarus that slepyth, oure althere ffrende.

If that he slepe. good sygne it is. 
Jhesus: Lazarus is deed and leyd in grave, 
Of his slepynge 3e deme amys; 
I was not there, £e knew weyl this. 
To strengthe Soure feytli I am ful glad. 
Therefore I teile 3ow the trewthe i-wys: 
Oure ffrende is deed and undyr erthe elad. 
Thomas: Than goo we alle ryght evyn streyth thedyr, 
There as oure ffrende Lazarus is deed; 
And lete us deye with hym togedvr, 
Tlier as he lyth in the same stede. 
eis: Infirmitas haee non est 
ad mortem, sed pro gloria 
Dei, ut glorifieetur filius 
Dei per eam. 7. Deinde 
post haec dixit discipulis 
suis: Eam us in Judaeum 
iterum 8.Rabbi! nunc quae- 
rebant te Judaei lapidare 
et iterum vadis illue? 
9. Respondit Jesus: Nonne 
duodecim sunt horae diei? 
Si quis ambulaverit in die 
non offendit, quia lucem 
liuius mundi videt; 
10. Si autem ambulaverit 
in nocte oflendit, quia lux 
non est in eo. 
11. Haec ait et post haec 
dixit eis: Lazarus amicus 
noster dormit sed vado ut a 
somno excitum eum. 
12. Dixerunt ergo disci 
puli eius: Domine, si dor 
mit, salvus erit. 
14. Tune ergo eis mani 
feste: Lazarus mortuus est 
15. Et gaudeo propter 
eos ut credatis quoniam non 
eram ibi. 
16. Dixit ergo Thomas: 
Eamus et nos ut moriamur 
cum eo. 
In dieser Weise gehen also beide Darstellungen bis zum Schluß 
parallel. Eine weitere Ausführung ist deshalb wohl überflüssig. 
Die Schlußrede des Herrn, in welcher er auf seinen bevor 
stehenden Tod hinweist, ist Hinzufügung des Dichters: 
The tyme is nere that I must deye. 
ffor alle mankynde his sowie to bye, 
A crown of thorn xal perchyn myn brayn, 
Ami on the mont of Calvarye, 
lipon a cros I xal be slayn.
